reading in the bathroom

personally, i'm horrible about it. i get stuck in reading something and don't notice what i'm doing till my legs go numb. the worst feeling in the world is dropping the pants, sitting, and THEN noticing there's nothing to read!!

yes I read, but my laptop has replaced any newspaper, magazine or book I may bring in, the computer does it all!

I got my rolling stone & tv guide, and when I'm done with those sometimes I even read my girl's cosmpolitan.. lots of sex talk in that magazine :D

I've actually got a small table and an older portable PC that I've dubbed "the craptop" for reading while in the shithouse. Wireless is so useful.

I refuse to shit without something to read. too many times I've been stuck reading the ingredients on a shampoo bottle. However, I, like many others apparently, love to bring int he laptop these days. It's perfect for playin a game, readin up on sports, or even lookin at boobs if thats all I got.

At work, however, I usually just grab my blackberry. I can check email, read more on sports, or even play a game of brickbreaker.

i have an older sister who used to bother me all the time when i was a kid, so i got used to locking the bathroom door and bringing a pile of comic books. i would spend a couple hours in there just to be alone. one time a friend came over and my mom told him to just wait in my room. he played video games for 2 hours before anyone realized i wasn't home. that's how often i did it.

now i can't go without reading.

Magazines, books, religious tracts, newspapers, free weekly local Nickle Nic's...whatever. And I've always done it. I can't think of a time when I didn't read on the toitie. When I was a kid, the biggest day of the week was when TV Guide came out so I could plan out my viewing for the next week.

I have a magazine rack in the water closet at home, but I'm usually working on a book. And I have big stack of books and magazines on my table at work. I used to get kind of embarassed when I first started there, because the pooper wasn't quite as private as I'd like, but as time's gone by I figured "fuck these people...I yam who I yam". I do at least two 15 minute+ sessions a day, mostly with a more serious book...you know, something that's kind of heavier reading...so I can focus out the bullshit that is my gig. Just finishing up a biography of Nikita Kruschev. I doubt it'll get me thru the rest of this week, but luckily I have some National Enquirer and Star magazines my Mom gave me. That'll give me the weekend to decide what will be the next get out work tome. I'm tossing up between McCoullough's biography of John Adams, a biography of Lenin, and a book about the formation of the Confederate government prior to the beginning of the Civil War. However, I've been obsessing on Lincoln this last week or so, so a trip to Hastings might be in the offing.

When the digital books come down in price, I'm totally there. I'll be able to waste time in public restrooms. Reading rather than looking for gloryholes.

I've always read in the loo. In fact, I've done a George Castanza at local stores, taking a mag. with me to read. Only they never made me buy it.

What is even worse is I've taken to sitting down to piss, just so I can get in some extra read time. Wordfills and wordfinds are my favorite.
