I think he meant the TV show Jericho, not Chris Jericho. I've only seen one episode, but I kind of liked it. House & Scrubs are about the only network TV I watch other than Sunday night Fox cartoons.
I am curious about this new Terminator show that premiers tonight, so I'll DVR it and see if it's any good.
only a couple of tv series that i watch: heroes and the shield. heroes is corny, but it's a cool show.

My new favorites (other than some of the ones already mentioned) are Torchwood on BBC and Dexter on Showtime. Since the writer's strike is still unresolved, I have heard that CBS will show cleaned-up-for-broadcast-TV versions of the first two seasons of Dexter.
Another of my favorites, Journeyman, was cancelled :(

yeah, I may be dating myself here, but last time I watched wrestling I thing Hulk Hogan slammed Andre the Giant. The show Jericho makes you think "what if this really happened?"
also, Family Guy is freakin sweet!

Is anybody watching LOST this season?
Flash
05-10-2008, 06:45 PM
Dont have time to watch too many tv shows since Sports basically take most of my t.v time (NBA,College BB especially) but my fav show definately has to be seinfeld...greatest show ever i have all the seasons but when a re run comes on i have to watch it even if i saw it a thousand times. that show has unlimited replay value. Also like Kenny vs Spenny which is awesome, Married with Children, sometimes everybody loves Raymond, Sopranos, Nip/Tuck is pretty awesome too. Also as soon as i wake up sportscenter goes nice with my morning coffee.

Not this season.
I watched the first 3 seasons like religion.
I was just really unimpressed with the season 4 opener. I have decided to wait until it comes out on dvd and, watch it all in a couple of days.
Have you been watching it?

bigMac, when I heard that Journeyman was getting canceled a few months ago, it was pretty depressing. That show was so great and I think if it hadn't been for the writer's strike, it totally would have survived. Just too bad. I was glad that "Chuck" didn't get canceled though, even though it was not the same type of show it was in a similar position due to the strike and all.
Some of my favorite shows: Top Chef, Hell's Kitchen, Dexter (Showtime, not the CBS version) Sopranos, Entrourage, Nip/Tuck, RESCUE ME (totally underrated, Denis Leary is the shit), Pushing Daisies is another great one, too. Oh, and I can't forget the Office. That show is great. I watch a lot of tv after dvr'ing or pick up season dvds of TV shows after they make it to stores for buying.

been watching LOST religiously for the last 3 years or so and I thought season 4 was one of their finest. Season 4 finale may have been the best yet. Can't wait for next year, although I really hope they don't have a winter break like they did for season 4.

I am a Lost ADDICT and made sure that I found time to keep up with the show this season. The show went in a direction I never saw coming, and as usual was seriously mind blowing. And of course in true LOST fashion, with every question that is answered, two more are then asked. I am trying to speak in generalities as to avoid giving anything away to anyone who maybe be interested and not want it spoiled.
Some other shows I really have enjoyed are the Office, which I also have seen all of, quote all the time, and rewatch constantly haha. Another great comedy Arrested Development was a fucking great show that got canceled because of poor advertising and time slots which resulted in poor viewings and the shows demise, I didnt even watch it when it was originally on TV. Dexter on Showtime is amazing, as is Heros on NBC. I liked most of the Sopranos, but hated the ending. Weeds on Showtime, and Californication With David Duchnovy *sp?* haha ok stoned rant complete:D

It's finished its run already, but for my money the whole 5 season run of The Wire on HBO is the best thing ever broadcast on television, hands down.
Right now the only show that I can't miss is the Venture Brothers, and then It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, when that comes back on in fall. Charlie Day is the funniest person on television.

Heroes I love. Used to be into 24, until working on it. South Park still gets it done. And of course, I always look forward to the Sunday night Adult Swim stuff.

Rescue me, Dexter, The L word (caught the last season, Wow), Heros, Battlestar Gallictica, American Gladiators, and Smallville. We have a Digital recorder show (like TIVO) so we can watch the shows anytime.
IronMan2008
06-21-2008, 02:49 AM

BleacherCreature, you are totally right arrested development was a great show. and i never watched it while it was on tv either but now that ive seen it i have no idea why they didnt keep it going. that show was fuckin hilarious. and i hope they keep weeds going for a really long time. been looking for the dexter dvds online but to no avail. but as long as weeds and lost are on i'll be alright. with some new south parks thrown in for good measure.

Ha, good catch Mel. I got to say though, I didn't know the show was on and had my friends told me about it I'd have been watching it then. As it is now, I can see why the internet speak is right when they say it might be the best show to be canceled far too prematurely. Oh, those crazy Bluths. . .I did name my dog Franklin with some influene from Gob's puppet, haha.
I got to also throw one out there to IronMan, I am a huge Family Guy (great when stoned, great when not) and Hell's Kitchen. Also I like anything with Anthony Bourdain on it, which is one of the reasons I geek out for the foodie favorite Top Chef!

I DVR Battlestar Galactica (freaking waiting me wait till MARCH 2009 for the last 10 eps of the show - BASTARDS!!!!), Doctor Who, Stargate: Atlantis, House, Bones, Cops (stupid people are still funny), Eureka and This Old House Hour along with New Yankee Workshop.
This new "Half-Season" crap needs to stop. Total BS.
I used to love Lost but it just got tiring dealing with the next wacked out thing to happen. I can't remember any specifics of the last ep I saw, just one of those "we're back home and can't talk about the island" ones. I'll wait for the rest to hit DVD and rush through them so I don't have to deal with all the worthless filler.
I'm looking forward to Fringe and the Dresden ripoff (can't remember the name) where the guy is an interdemensional detective.

Well I hope you all have heard that they are making an AD movie! I am sooo psyched. Another little know fact Mel, AD is streamed FOR FREE by msn! http://arresteddevelopment.msn.com/ so catch up on there there if you never got to finish.
When you were talking about them always changing the show times and stuff, that was part of the reason the show lost followers and was eventually canceled.
Effjay, Franklin is a great name for a Dog haha now if you could only get him to bark the words to the song Franklin D. Bluth sang haha.....My dog's name Is Chewbacca, Chewy for short, haha hes a wild man. In addition to my other rant, I some how forgot to add 24, on of my all time favorite shows to the list. I have been without it for so long, I almost forgot. Aslo worth mentioning, Six Feet Under on HBO, I never thought I would like it but it was an awesome shoe. Also this falls under the obvious due to my name on here, but I watch the Yankees every night as well.

When I ran out of all my sci-fi and fantasy ebooks I stumbled across the sookie books. Figured what the heck. Read them, liked them. Surprising thing is that as far as I can remember, the show is following the first book very accurately. Anyone who's read a book and then seen a TV/Movie version will know that that almost never happens. Even down to the subtle things like lighting, clothing, stances and walks, etc. All those little details that are usually filler in a book. It's in the show.
Anna is almost perfect as Sookie. The actress playing Tara has her to a T. Yep, she's annoying in the book too.
However, I'm not happy about one thing. In the book, Sookie's first time is explicitly describe. Damn show skipped that completely. I was hoping Anna Paquin would get necked like her character in the books does. Doesn't look like it's going to happen though.
I hope they get through the other books, but I have a feeling that the ratings won't allow it. Things get really good part way through the 3rd book. There's so much more going on around that town than non-readers can even imagine at this point in the show.

He's some kind of something. He transforms into that dog that hangs around the bar. Maybe some kind of werewolf? He had a old fashioned wolf painting in his office too. That dog seems to follow Sookie around when Sam is not there, like when she beat those two up who were trying to drain Bill, then again after her date with him.

Yes, I'm pretty sure he is, at least some kind of werewolf, although the dog he transforms into isn't as bad ass as a wolf would be.:D
i've dl'd and watched the first four episodes of true blood and i have to say i'm pretty disappointed. the acting and the accents are pretty bad and the most believable character is bill(yeah, that's right, a fucking vampire is the most believable character on the whole damn show)

The accents are a bit much, but then again, I've never been to the south, so I'm not sure how they should sound.
That being said, I'm also a vampire junkie.:D

So the wife started reading the books and pointed out that my memory isn't as good as I thought. That's the problem with reading over a 400 books since I read the series.
From what she's reminded me, it seems they're mixing the characters from a few books all into the first season.
Still, it's a good show.
PastyGangsta
10-15-2008, 01:47 PM
It's a fucking awesome show! I think they might have mixed characters because they didn't know if there was going to be a second season or not. As far as the accents go, if you are from any part of the country and hear a regional accent, it will probably sound bad to you. That said, hearing LaFayette speak kills me. He is probably the funnies character, but they need to give the actor a new accent.
"where's my golden shower?"

No you're right the accents suck, If that dude that run's Merlotte's calls Sookie, Cher one more time I'm gonna throw something through the TV! Its not pronounced 'Cher' it's pronounced 'Sha', like SHAT without the T sound. I'm from south Louisiana originally, the show takes place between Shreveport and Monroe, which is about as Cajun, or bayou area as Wisconsin. Incidently, the restaurant Merlotte's is a play on a true Cajun restaurant called, Mulatte's (Mulatte was my uncle). :D

So Sam is running butt neked through the swamp/woods, and the detective and his cousin dont even flinch. The cousin says he's done that before.
But WTF was Sam doing, and right at the time of the fire? I think he has something to do with it.

I wish they would've expounded on the the part where Sam goes into that dead waitresses trailer with latex gloves on and sniffs her sheets. He did that and then since it's just been like "Oh hey Sam"
Fuck that. I love this show, but god damnit they don't explain shit when they show it. Next week there will be no explanation for the Sam running naked thing probably.
I think the dog is probably either that vampire in the Shreveport vampire bar, or the head vampire Bill alluded to when he first went to that Vampire groups house.
The fact that the dog was seen with both Bill and Sam should mean they are not it. Unless of course it's just a dog and Vampires have the ability to channel animals to use as their eyes and ears and that secret hasn't been revealed yet.
Oh, and maybe I missed it in an earlier episode, but why don't people turn into vampires when vampires bite them. Why is Sookie not going to turn into a vampire?

On a completely different show topic (Entourage)...
Why the fuck was Vinny so fucking sad when he found out Ari was getting the job as the studio head? "I thought we would finish what we started"
Seriously? You're getting sappy because your agent is getting a job as a studio head and can get you into any movie you fucking want to the point where you don't even need a fucking agent anymore, and you think it's going to be a bad thing?
What the fuck? I'd be like "Fuck yes. Oh my God, my career is back"
What a dumbshit. Oh, and that watch was fucking sick. The episode this past week was awesome
SirLongFoot
10-21-2008, 03:10 PM
Its funny to see Ari getting a little "sappy" as well. Vince had fired him last season, and now is hesitant to lose him? More drama than I though he would give.

Patience. All in good time. Be happy they're "fast tracking" the series of books into one season. Not to mention making more of certain characters than were done in the books. Some of that I don't think is needed, but oh well.

Different writers have different vampires. Don't think old school or even Ann Rice's vamps. Take Harris' (writer of the books) for what they are.
If you want some really good books to read, get P.N. Elrod's Vampire Detective series. Set in the days of old school gangsters, heavy American cars, and REALLY cool.

There is a process in which a person is converted into a vampire, which would include the vampire draining them to the brink of death, and then feeding the person their own vampire blood to bring back to "life."
If every vampire "victim" were to become a vampire after being bitten, and vamps need to feed every night, it would not take long for the whole world to become vampires.

Sooooooooo......
I guess Sam is the dog then? I'm surprised considering it showed him and the dog together at one point. Is it that he's gonna be a werewolf, or will he just be a shapeshifter? I don't know. Werewolf seems too implausible. It could mean that Sam is behind the murders, but aside from Sookie's grandmother and her cat, the other murders were clean. I would think a werewolf would be rather sloppy in killing someone.

Unless I'm mistaken, they never actually showed them together, the dog and Sam I mean. The closest I remember was the dog was outside when Tara went over to his trailer, then when she went inside, Sam was there. If he can move as fast as Bill, he might have pulled that off.
And it seems that Bill definitely knows whats up with Sam, before he left, he told him to watch over her, since he knows that he is the only one who can.

The question is, is he a werewolf or some form of shape shifter or other mythical creature or monster?

i agree with the guy who said entourage is slow this season....there really aren't any good storylines, and i know this wack to say, but whenever the story revolves around vince, it gets boring, since i really hate his character....
does anyone watch dexter? its my guilty pleasure. i loved the first season, but after that i feel like it became so extraordinarily unbelievable and deb still can't act. although i love the addition of jimmy smits since he and michael c. hall are the two with the best acting chops on the show. however, his mexican-ish thick spanish accent is unnecessary, in my opinion.

3) I think Tara is a cunt, and I hate her character. She talks about the exorcism not working even though it made her feel great for the time she spent before finding that woman in the store. Tara is a Grade A cunt
4) Judging from the next episode preview, Sookie is a friggin' whore.
5) I'm going to guess that dude who has the Fallujah nightmares is the strangler/killer. He's been getting a lot of attention lately and has also been acting very strange as well
6) Although the next episode appears to have a theme of "Things are not as they seem" so...

So much happened during last nights episode that I had to watch it twice. I also think its the guy that came back from the war that is the killer.
I like Entourage at 30 min because most of it is just fluff and it would be very hard pressed to stretch it to an hour. If you watch the Office, you can see that the extended episodes are usually weaker than the regular ones IMO.

True Blood is definitely going to keep people hooked until next summer. It may generate the type of Sopranos following. I like Entourage, but I think that it may be coming to a close. I watched the finale, and other than Ari and Lloyd, there are no characters I like anymore.
On a good note, that Saddam Hussein miniseries looks badass, Big Love and Flight of the Conchords are coming back, and hopefully this season of Heroes ends and leaves a good cliffhanger.

but that would have destroyed the main premise of the show...if those 4 don't have their brotherhood of queens boulevard in them they never get this far. If Vince didn't go get E after the offer then he's a giant fuckin douche. Now E can surely start to take on his new clients and begin to move away from being so tied to Vince but to end it without redemption would have really fucked everything up. I like that they've started to set up the other 3 guys with outside interests that will have the opportunity to give them new lives - that's how it should end - still great friends but with their own fulfilling lives. I think the most telling line in the show happened in this season when Turtle explained to Jamie Lynn that if it wasn't for him none of those guys would have made it out to Hollywood. Drama's show was done and he wasn't getting any work and Turtle made the money to bring the whole crew out and get started putting Vince's pretty face to work.

I like the show. Lot's of secrets that we seem to be able to watch ahead of the protagonists. Hot girls. I'd like to see that doctor without scrubs!!!
Who would have thought Katey Segal could be a sexy-dirty biker matriarch all full of violence and evil? She is great.
FX has some decent shows: I love Rescue Me and Sons of Anarchy; and Dirt had some naughtiness in it and that trial lawyer show was alright.
Anyway 2 questions: missed the first show, what exactly does SAMCRO stand for?
And is there any chance in hell that the prodigal son can change the agenda of that crew while the old guard is still alive?
