How dangerous is swine flu?

So I ask you, is the Swine Flu as serious as they make it out? Are you concerned?
I have to be because I have a depressed immune system from Epstein-Barr, so I'm being extra careful. Also, Palm Beach County has a large legal and illegal Mexican population, that travel home with an erratic degree of frequency. To add to that factor, WPB, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami are very busy airports for South and Central American travel. And since I don't have a car, I have to rely on public transportation to get around. I get a flu shot every year, but no one was immunized for the Swine Flu, so I have no anti-bodies to lessen the illness if I catch it.
I need to be careful, but overall think this is way out of hand for a normally healthy person. What are your thoughts?

It's a great way to get attention off of the other shit. Basically it's Obama's 9/11.
Example:
Reporter: Hey Obama, why the hell did you spend that much money?
Obama: Hey, did you guys hear about the swine flu?
Reporter: Well yes, but you didn't answer the question. How about why, after spending all that money, nothing is getting better?
Obama: I feel it is important to inform you that we are working very hard to get a handle on this swine flu outbreak.
Reporter: OK, we understand that but wha....
Obama: Swine flu
Reporter: Sir, you're not making sen...
Obama: Swine flu!!
*flees stage fro dramatic effect*
Reporter: Well guys, I like my job, so I guess the story is going to be swine flu.

Here are a couple of "facts" that i found.
According to the CDC:
* about 36,000 people die from the flu each year. (about 98 people per day)
* about 300,000 people die from obesity each year (about 821 per day)
So what is the swine flu's death toll so far? Around 200 or so, i think.
To me, it seems to be way blown out of proportion.

we're talking about the media... theyll cover something to the death until something bigger comes along. shit, CNN still talks about casey anthony about 5 hours day.
i actually know someone who went on vacation to mexico with their graduating class. apparently about 5 of them ended up testing positive for the swine flu once they got back. its not gonna be a mass killer, its just fucked up when your dealing with a new hybrid strand of something.

Overblown, they just one to make another country shitty, read the stories they say a lot of people is dying because of swine flu, the funny thing is, they call it swine flu but hasnt been found in pigs, why would you call it like that. truth is that they dont want anyone going to mexico.
The goverment can say a bunch of bullshit thats for sure.

Now that the initial panic is dying down, we find out that a lot of the people originally thought to have died of this outbreak went through other causes.
So those high percentage fatalaties are bullshit and although this is a nasty dose unless it mutates into something more dangerous, thats all it is. A bad case of the flu.
Overblown, for sure. Proves only the fact that Mother Nature finds a solution for every problem on Earth. Swine flu is as bad as a earthquake or vulcanic-eruption. Mexican Swine-flu sounds more catchier don't ya think?

The one main thing that has come out of all the press is that most if not all of the deaths were children or ppl with other health problems. I personally belong to that last group, so in a way I'm glad they overblew the whole situation. Made me take extra precautions.
Its overrated in my opinion, i still wouldnt like to catch it, but you know, its all a bit much

Dangle, when I started this poll is was to make joke of the outbreak, but for people like me, it's proving to be very serious. NYC just reported their second death, both with underlying health issues. As they say, we won't see the full danger of the swine flu until the fall.
