Given the abundance of music available without cash changing hands - what's the last CD you actually paid money for?
Here's mine: I was buying a coffee at Starbucks and heard it playing and wanted it then for the ride home. First CD I had purchased in over a year.

It's up over in the African Music thread, if anybody wants to give it a listen.

I shit you not... i can't even remember.
I am pretty sure it was The Coral's self-titled cd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Coral_(album)) that came out in 2002. It's the last one that i actually remember buying.
Jesus that was 8 years ago...

I still buy a few here and there - mainly for the liners, bonus shit & to support an unsigned.
Particularly at shows, where I know the bands getting the Merch cut directly.

40th Anniversary Edition
I still buy CDs but not nearly as many as I used to. If the artist is someone whose CDs I know to be solidly enjoyable, I still buy them.

Good point - anymore, about all I consistently buy is CDs offered at the merch table. I figure I have plenty of T-shirts, but I want to support the bands until they become big enough that I can download their shit for free here.

The last CD I bought must have been Metallica's St Anger when it was brand new... Besides that, I have been downloading everything or copying friend's stuff...

Fozzy's new album Chasing the Grail... Sure worth the money for a relatively unknown band.

Swoon by Silversun Pickups
Great CD! Just saw them unplugged on Palladia and had to get this. Highly recommended!

I just pulled up the MTV Unglugged set (assumed that was the same as Palladia) based upon your rave, and that's some solid shit.
I'd definitely pay to see them acoustic/unplugged before live again.
This is one of those bands I wish I could tolerate better.
I really dig their vibe, been twice to see them in relatively small venues, and for me they craft songs in the vein and on par with someone like a modern Smashing Pumpkins - but I just do not spin a whole disc in a sitting.
I still included Swoon in my Best Of 2009 (http://www.drunkenstepfather.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29118) disc, but I take it in doses.
Probably a combination of his incredible (but sometimes grating) voice, and the fact I went through the Pumpkins era.

I know the feeling. I bought my wife the Avatar DVD because she'd been complaining that I'd seen it and she hadn't, and as I was paying for it I realized it's the first new DVD I've bought in so long I can't remember.

Last night I picked up this death/core band's debut cd at a concert I went to. Upon a Burning Body is their name and they are fucking amazing if you like that genre. It's basically their demo remastered with different names. (This cd has all Al Pacino movie track names a la Bury Your Dead) I'll get on uploading it when i feel like not being so lazy. But check em out either way.
