I know in my old high school quite a few girls passed required classes because the teachers were screwing them. I certainly did not care as long as my grade didn't go down because I didn't offer. If the girl wanted to, that's her doing. If the teacher forced it now...a bit different.

Laura Obzera, a Bolingbrook elementary school nurse, was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegedly having sexual relations with three teen boys in 2006, officials said.

Obzera, 49, works for Valley View Community School District 365U in Bolingbrook, police said. She is listed as a health assistant at Wood View Elementary School in Bolingbrook on the school's Web site.

There is no indication that the abuse of the boys, ages 13 to 17, happened on school property, Bolingbrook police Cmdr. Tom Ross said, and Obzera apparently did not meet them through her job.

Obzera was arrested nine days after Bolingbrook police joined a Department of Children and Family Services inquiry into sexually charged text messages that were exchanged between an adult female and male teens, officials said. She was released Thursday on $50,000 bail.

"We knew about the sexual content of the messages, and it was through the interviews that detectives and DCFS did that led us to discover the sexual contact," Ross said.

DCFS is investigating a report of abuse against Obzera that the department received through its hot line on Sept. 1, said DCFS spokesman Kendall Marlowe.

Obzera has been a licensed practical nurse in Illinois since 1982 and has never been disciplined by the state, according to online records.

Jennifer Burton, Texas

Jennifer Lea Burton, 39-year-old physical education teacher and coach at Orangefield Junior High School has been indicted by a grand jury on multiple charges for allegedly engaging in an improper relationship and sexually assaulting a female student.

The alleged improper relationship went on between September and November 2008.

Orangefield school Superintendent Philip Welch says Burton is on leave pending a special board meeting next week. Mrs. Burton has a daughter who attends the same school.

The Orange Leader reports that bond for Burton has been set at $15,000 for each of the sexual assault counts and $10,000 for each of the improper relationship counts.

Orange County has five school districts and three of them in the past 14 months have had to deal with accusations of improper relationships between educators and students.

Sarah Tolzien, Illinois
Sarah L. Tolzien, 24-year-old English teacher and boys? varsity cross country coach at Rich South High School in Richton Park, Illinois has been charged with felony sexual assault of a 16-year-old male student. Tolzien allegedly engaged in sexual activity with the student on two occasions while she gave him rides home on November 14th and 17th last year.


The boy's mother found text messages on his cell phone between him and Tolzien that were sexual in nature, and she notified police in late November. The boy initially denied having sex with Tolzien but later admitted that it had occurred on two occasions when she drove him home, police said.

Tolzien is expected to plead innocent April 27 at the Markham Courthouse. According to Tolzien's attorney, Bruce Brandwein, she did not do it, "It's as simple as that." The mother of the student involved said she was grateful the case was moving forward.

Tolzien was hired as a substitute teacher in 2007, but was later made a full-time language arts teacher and then began coaching the cross-country team, police said.

Police said there have been no other complaints about Tolzien from other students or their parents.

The investigation began when the victim's mother came to the police telling that her son had admitted to having a sexual relationship with his English teacher.

According to detectives the victim admitted to having an ongoing relationship with Jackson and and told that he had strong feelings for Jakcson and her childreen.

Detectives recorded a phone conversation between the teen's mother and Jackson in which Jackson reportedly admitted to having sex with the boy beginning in October or November of 2008. She reportedly apologized to the teen's mother and admitted to having feelings for the boy.

Brookann Collier, California

Brookann Collier, 32, principal of Tunnell Elementary School in Santa Maria, California has been arrested for the alleged sexual abuse of a female student under the age of 15. Allegedly Collier engaged in sexual conduct with the student, beginning 2004 when the victim was about 14 years old, and continued until 2009. The alleged victim is now 20 years old.

Santa Maria Police say that Collier was arrested on Thursday morning and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of child molestation, with bail set at $100,000.

Police say that Collier met the alleged victim at a local elementary school, where the victim was a student and Collier was a teacher. Collier has been with the school district for nine years and About two years ago she was promoted to the principal position at Tunnel School.

Jennifer Rice, Washington
Jennifer Leigh Rice,33-year-old fourth-grade teacher at McKinley Elementary School, was arrested back in August 2007 for allegedly kidnapping a 10-year-old boy for sex. Rice was first charged with first-degree kidnapping with sexual motivation, but the investigation revealed that the 10-year-old was not only young boy Rice had been having sexual realtions with. New charges were filed against Rice in Setptember 2007 and she faced six counts of first-degree child rape, four counts of first-degree child molestation and two counts of third-degree child rape involving two youths.

The first-degree child rape and child molestation charges pertain to the 10-year-old child she kidnapped. The third-degree child rape charge involve another boy, who is brother of the first victim, between 14 and 16 years of age, who Rice allegedly molested between July 10th and August 20th 2007.

In April 2009 a Pierce County judge Monday convicted Jennifer Rice of kidnapping and raping a 10-year-old boy she taught at Tacoma?s McKinley Elementary School.

Superior Court Judge D. Gary Steiner also found Rice, 33, guilty of raping the boy?s older brother and ruled one of her crimes was predatory, qualifying her for an extra-long prison sentence.

The former teacher faces more than 25 years in prison when sentenced June 5. Steiner ordered Rice, who?s been in jail since her arrest in summer 2007, remain there until sentencing.

The convictions followed a brief ?stipulated facts? trial. Prosecutors and Rice?s defense team agreed to a set of facts in the case, and Steiner reviewed them before making his decision. Rice agreed to the trial instead of a straight plea in order to preserve some of her appellate rights.

The arrangement was, in essence, a guilty plea by Rice. She admitted she had sexual intercourse with both boys on separate occasions ? the older brother was 15 at the time ? and that she kidnapped and molested the younger boy, according to court records.

Steiner convicted Rice of four crimes: first-degree kidnapping, first-degree child molestation and two counts of third-degree rape. Steiner found the child-molestation crime was a predatory offense because the victim was one of Rice?s students.

That designation ? required when a teacher is accused of certain sex crimes ? invokes stiff sentencing requirements: a minimum term of 25 years or the high end of the standard sentencing range, whichever is longer. In Rice?s case, the high end is 26 years, according to previously filed court documents.

Prosecutors contended in court documents that Rice began a sexual relationship with the 10-year-old boy that lasted from December 2006 to August 2007, when she sneaked him out of his home and drove him to Ellensburg where they had sex at a rest stop before she returned him home.

According to court records, the boys' father told investigators that Rice showered his younger son with attention until about July 2007, when she was told to stop coming to the house.

After her arrest, Rice said she'd had sex with the boy four or five times previously, including once when she sneaked into his house while his parents were asleep, according to a police affidavit.

Prosecutors also charged her with twice having sex with the boy?s older brother in July 2007.

Rice previously argued that the law that classifies some crimes as predatory is unconstitutional because it wrongly curtails the powers of the state?s prosecutors by restricting their discretion. Steiner rejected that argument in July 2008.

The News Tribune of Tacoma reported previously that Rice resigned from earlier jobs teaching Spanish at Spanaway Lake High in the suburban Bethel School District and as a second-grade teacher at Southworth Elementary in Yelm, between Tacoma and Olympia, both when her professional judgment was questioned after a year on the job.

Six months after taking the job at McKinley, Rice was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into reports of inappropriate socializing with students outside school hours, Tacoma schools spokeswoman Leanna Albrecht said.

Investigators found no evidence of sexual misconduct, but because of other unspecified findings her contract was allowed to lapse at the end of the year

Lindsay Massaro, Franfort, New Jersey

Lindsay Massaro, 23-year-old 8th grade student teacher at Frankford Elementary School in Frankford, N.J. was jailed Monday on charges of having sex with a middle school student.

Massaro engaged in a sexual relationship with a middle student beginning March 21st. Massaro reportedly admitted to having sexual encounters multiple times with the boy in her car and bedroom. She admitted to performing sex acts on the boy and that on her request boy performed oral sex on her while in her vehicle. Toni R. Warren, 35-year-old teacher at Truman Elementary School has been arrested for allegedly engaging in sex with a 16-year-old boy. Warren faces charges of statutory sodomy, second-degree child molestation and providing pornography to a minor. The pornography charge stems from three e-mailed photographs of her genitalia that Warren allegedly sent to the boy.

The teen boy, who is a student at different school, first met Warren in last September when he stopped at Truman Elementary School after his classes to catch a ride to basketball practice. They exchanged cell phone numbers and began calling and sending text messages to each other. Sexual-themed mesages and photos that Warren send to boy eventually led to an agreement to meet at boys relative?s house. After engaging multiple times in intimate sex acts, Warren allegedly told the boy not to tell anyone because she could lose her job.

The boy said he quit talking to Warren when he began getting more serious with a girlfriend ?his own age,? according to court records.

An internal investigation by the school found no other students intimately involved with Warren

Jennifer Collier, Florida

Jennifer Collier, 34-year-old science teacher at James Weldon Johnson Middle School, has been arrested for allegedly engaging in sex with a 14-year-old boy.

Police say Collier had sex with the boy on Friday at Walmart parking lot after agreeing to take him home following a school field trip. Collier performed sex acts on boy before having vaginal sex with him.
The report says the boy showed police several e-mails from Collier to the victim that demonstrated their inappropriate relationship.

The victim told police that Collier is a 5th period science teacher at James Weldon Johnson Middle School, and that he has had several sexual encounters with the suspect on and off school grounds.

When arrested, investigators said Collier claimed to have a "mother-type relationship" with the boy who had come to her to talk about problems he was having in his home life. She then requested an attorney.
Collier faces charges of sexual battery on a victim under 18, lewd battery and lewd and lascivious conduct.

Gina Watring, North Carolina

Gina Marie Watring, 40-year-old teacher's assistant at Creekside Elementary has been arrested on allegations of having sex with a male student, who is reportedly 10-years-old.

Investigators say Gina Marie Watring had intercourse with the child on at least two occasions in April, first time three weeks ago and a second last Tuesday. Durham officials will not comment about where the incidents happened.

Watring faces two counts of first-degree sex offense with a student.

Watring started working at Creekside in November 2006. She is no longer working for the school as of Tuesday.

Watring taught dance and drama at the school, located at 5321 Ephesus Church Road, according to the school?s Web site.

Lindsey Froehlich, Maryland

Lindsey H. Froehlich, 27, of the 13100 block of Shadyside Lane in Germantown, was arrested and charged in May 2008 with sexually abusing a 16-year-old male student/resident of the school which focuses on emotionally challenged children.

It was alleged that Froehlich had established a personal relationship between herself and the student that escalated into inappropriate touching initiated by Froehlich. The incidents allegedly occurred during school hours and on school property.

Froehlich came to the attention of authorities on May 19th by way of the school administration contacting Child Protective Services with allegations of improper touching occurring that day.

In April 2009 Froelich pleaded guilty to a sexual offense involving her 16-year-old male student. She was sentenced to three years probation including six months in a pre-release center on April 16.

Froehlich was not required to register on a national or state registry for sexual offenders, Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Eric M. Johnson ruled during the sentencing hearing. Johnson also gave Froehlich probation before judgment, meaning the case would be expunged from Froehlich's record if she does not violate the terms of her probation.

Prosecutors said that Froehlich, a third-year teacher at RICA, touched the 16-year-old through his clothing and that he sexually touched her as they sat behind a desk in a classroom during school hours. She was the teenager's computer applications software teacher.

Assistant State's Attorney Keith Jacobson said that Froehlich had a 3-month friendship with the teenager that "raised eyebrows" as she walked him across campus to his dormitory.

He said the teen had sent Froehlich a sexually explicit and suggestive e-mail prior to the May 19 incident.

"This isn't some young boy's fantasy," said Jacobson, who added that the teenager's psychologist at RICA had described the boy as emotionally disturbed. Froehlich said that her friendship with the teen had lasted closer to six weeks.

In May 2009 Janet Hughes pleaded guilty to engaging in sex with a 16-year-old boy in accordance with an agreement with the prosecution and she will be sentenced to prison for a term of from one to six years and a lifetime of being labeled as a sexual predator. Once her prison sentence is completed she will be required to serve 10 years of sex offender probation, during which time she must wear a GPS monitoring bracelet.

Heather Zeo, Pennsylvania

Heather Lynne Zeo, 36-year-old teacher at North Penn High School, has been arrested for having inappropriate sexual relations with a teen male student.

Zoe faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child and corruption of minors.

The student told police the relationship began in April and included sexual conversations on the phone and on the popular social networking Web site Facebook. Authorities say Zeo allegedly performed sex acts on the boy in her classroom and they had sex off school grounds.

Alleged victim told police Zeo contacted him through Facebook the last week of April, according to the criminal complaint He said he entered her classroom six or seven times during her "prep" times when no other students were around and the pair would "make out."

When Zeo decided they should be more cautious, they met one night during the second week of May at a shopping center parking lot in Montgomery Township, the complaint said. Exiting his mother's car and getting into Zeo's minivan, he sat with Zeo on the rear bench seat where the pair kissed and fondled one another for about a half hour before the student went home, the complaint said.

Talking to one another on Facebook about the sexual things they wanted to do, they made arrangements to meet again several days later at the same parking lot at the same time, according to the complaint.

It was during this meeting that the relationship escalated to intercourse, the complaint said. Prior to having intercourse, Zeo provided the student with a condom and, afterwards, had him return it to her, the complaint said


Through further investigation, police said they discovered Zeo was allegedly involved in an inappropriate internet relationship with another student in the school.

Zeo and this student would contact each other once or twice a week although, according to the student, only about five of those contacts were of a sexual nature.

At one point, he told authorities, Zeo told him she would probably have sex with him if they were alone in a room and then she allegedly invited him to her classroom at a time when she would be alone, according to the complaint. The student never took her up on the offer, the complaint said.

Zeo, a mother of three, has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Corruption of Minors. She was released on bail Thursday afternoon and is back home with her family.

Tara L. Brandon, 38-year-old summer camp director, has been arrested for allegedly engaging in sex multiple times with a teen boy. The boy admitted to police that he and Brandon performed sex acts on each other and had sexual intercourses more than 30 times over the summer of 2007 and 2008. Police also interviewed another counselor who told police that he had witnessed what he thought was a sexual relationship between Tara Brandon and the boy earlier this year.

Alison Peck, Missouri

Alison M. Peck, 23, a music teacher at Greenfield High School in Greenfield, Missouri was arrested in the beginning of May on allegations that she had a sexual relationship with a student who is under 14-years-old. A couple of week later she was arrested again, this time on allegations of witness tampering and having sex with underage boy.

According to court records, Peck began exchanging text messages with the student in December, 2008 eventually leading to a sexual relationship. Peck reportedly told investigators that she repeatedly had sex with the student beginning in January at her home in Mt. Vernon and at Fiddler's Ford in Dade County.

Peck, 23, was first charged in Dade County on May 14 with having sexual relations with the boy at a park in that county sometime between January and March. On the day after being served with a citation about those two statutory rape charges, and handing an officer a bond to prevent being booked into the county jail, investigators say Peck asked two of her friends to take the boy to a motel in Springfield, where he spent the night with her.

Acording to Greene County charges and probable cause statement against Peck, the teen boy told detectives that "... at which time he and Peck engaged in vaginal intercourse".

Greene County prosecutors charged Peck on Friday with one count of statutory rape and her bond in that county has been set at $200,000.

The Greene County judge also ordered Peck to have no contact with the boy or his family, not to be within 1,000 feet of his home or school, not to have contact with her two friends who admitted taking the boy to Springfield, not to leave Missouri, and to surrender her passport to the sheriff?s department

Jennifer Espinosa, Illinois

Jennifer Espinosa, 38-year-old female teacher at Maine East High School in Park Ridge, Illinois has been arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse as a result of an eight-month relationship with a former student she admitted to police.

Jessica Bailey Wishnask, 27-year-old teacher from Pactolus Elementary School in Greenville, North Carolina, has been accused of taking indecent liberties with a 15-year-old boy. She was arrested after police allegedly found her sex in a car with a 15-year-old boy at 4:30 a.m. last Saturday.

Most recently, Wishnask taught language arts to eighth graders in Pitt County. She resigned on Monday.

New Hanover County School District administrators said Wishnask taught language arts to seventh graders at Williston Middle School in Wilmington last semester where
Wishnask was suspended two times during atwo years period. She was suspended in October of 2008 and again in November of 2008 and she resigned in December.

Wishnask also taught in Duplin County Schools before coming to New Hanover County.

Neighbors said Jessica Wishnask moved out of a home on Amber Pines Drive in Leland about three months ago. She and her husband have a young daughter together, and are in the middle of a separation.

Maria Guzman Hernandez, 32-year-old sixth-grade teacher has been accused of engaging in a sexual affair with a 15-year-old boy.

It is alleged that a sexual relationship between Hernandez and the boy existed for months and boy's mother knew about their relationship.

Rumors about Hernandez repeatedly having sex with a 15-year-old student began circulating at the school around May 20. DCF's abuse hot line received a report about the teacher student sexual relationship last Friday, and police were notified. Police had to delay questioning Hernandez regarding the alleged illicit relationship as she was out of town, vacationing at Disney World with the alleged victim.

When Hernandez returned from the trip, she admitted to Hialeah police she'd had sex with the 15-year-old and was charged with sexual battery on a child over whom she had custodial authority, a charge similar to statutory rape.

The boy's mother, who acknowledged to both police and Department of Children & Families investigators that Hernandez was a family friend and she approved of the relationship, is under investigation by both agencies for permitting the teen to have a months-long affair with the teacher, and for consenting to the theme park trip. It was teen boy's room in his home he shared with his mother where Hernandez perfomed sex acts on the victim and had multiple sexual intercourses with him.

Hernandez, who is estranged from her husband, told DCF investigators ''she was going through a lot in her life,'' said Jacqui Colyer, chief of the Miami DCF office. Hernandez's two children attend the Hialeah school.

Angelica DeLeon, 27-year-old teacher's aide at the alternative ASSET Academy, has been accused of engaging in sex with a 16-year-old male student. DeLeon has been charged with omproper relationship with a student - a second-degree felony and a conviction can mean up to 20 years in prison.

Charges surfaced against DeLeon on May 18 after a student told a teacher the 16-year-old boy had pictures of DeLeon wearing lingerie on his cell phone, the probable cause affidavit states.

The phone also had text messages from DeLeon to the student, including ?I love you,? ?please talk to me? and ?don?t say we talk sexy,? the affidavit states.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown told CBS 2 HD the accused teacher had logged hundreds of luring text messages and calls with the child at all hours of the day and night.

Weber came to the attention of authorities after the boy?s mother, who is a member of the PTA, was allegedly told by persons at the school that a teacher was engaging in an inappropriate relationship with her son.

The boy?s mother obtained the teacher?s telephone number, checked her son?s cell phone and allegedly found hundreds of contacts between the teacher and her son over the last two months and called police.

Keri Ann Brekne, 29-year-old teacher, who was arrested in January 2008 and charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, has been sentenced to seven years in prison in New Jersey. Eralier, in October 2008 A judge in Northampton County, Pennsylvania sentenced Brekne to a prison term of from 15 to 30 years.

The New Jersey judge ruled her sentence will be concurrent to her sentence of 15 to 30 years in Northampton County. That means Brekne will serve both sentences at the same time, rather than back-to-back. The victim's family says they are outraged Brekne will not serve extra time for the charges in New Jersey.

Julianna Sauls, Texas

Julianna Christine Sauls, 38-year-old algebra teacher at Azle Christian Academy, was arrested in November 2008 for sexual assault of an 18-year-old student. In December same year, additional charges were filed against Sauls when another victim informed police about his relationship with the teacher.

Julianna Sauls pleaded guilty last week to two charges of improper relationship between an educator and a student with the understanding that she would be eligible for "shock probation" after serving six months of the 10-year prison term imposed by 43rd District Judge Don Chrestman. Unless she misbehaves in prison, Sauls will be returned to Parker County within six months and placed on probation for 10 years.

One of the cases was headed by Azle Police and the other was handled by the Parker County Sheriff?s Office. Officials said investigators from both agencies worked together to make the cases against Sauls.

An arrest affidavit stated Sauls performed oral sex on one of the students in October in his driveway and had ?deviate sexual intercourse? with another student in the same month. The affidavit also stated Sauls would fondle one of the students under his gym shorts on a daily basis.

A press release from the sheriff?s office stated the acts occurred both on and off school property.

As part of her plea, Sauls was required to permanently relinquish her teaching certification. She also must pay $4,000 in fines, perform 400 hours of community service, attend sex offender counseling, and stay away from all junior high and high school-aged youths, including her victims.

Four days before her Parker County plea, Sauls was sentenced to five years? probation on a Tarrant County charge involving one of the victims in the Parker County cases. As part of that plea, state District Judge Sharen Wilson ordered her to serve six months in jail after her release from prison. Wilson ordered her to perform 240 hours of community service and have a mental health evaluation.

Cathleen Crowley, New Hampshire

Cathleen Crowley, 31-year-old counselor for troubled youth was charged with two counts of felonious sexual assault for allegedly engaging in sex with a student in November 2008. Prosecutors say Crowley had at least two sexual encounters with the boy.

In June 2009 Crowley pleaded guilty to bargained-down charges of misdemeanor sexual assault and misdemeanor providing alcohol to a minor.

As a result of a re-negotiated deal, she was sentenced by Superior Court Judge John P. Arnold to 30 days in the Cheshire County Jail.

Crowley's original plea bargain was deemed unworkable by Judge Brian T. Tucker because it included no jail time even though she admitted to liquoring up and engaging in sex with a 14-year-old boy she had authority over. Tucker said Crowley deserved to spend time in jail because of the boy?s age at the time of the alleged sexual assaults and the position of authority she held over him as his counselor.

The boy?s mother said previously in court that her son was 14 when Crowley became his counselor at a residential treatment program for troubled teens in the state.

?I can?t understand how you live with yourself,? the mother said. ?I can?t understand how you could use your job to access young boys.?

Arnold sentenced Crowley to a year in jail with 11 months suspended on the conviction for endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

She received a consecutive, suspended one-year jail sentence on the conviction for providing alcohol to a minor, also a misdemeanor.

Both suspended sentences could be imposed if Crowley is caught breaking the law in the next five years.

Crowley was placed on probation for two years, ordered to undergo a psychosexual evaluation for sexual offenders and barred from contacting the student.

Jamie Nicole Hale, 32-year-old choir teacher at Star Valley High School, was charged on May 19 with having sexual contact with a teen boy in January and February. She faced charges of third-degree sexual abuse of a minor and fourth-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

Hale entered no contest pleas to a misdemeanor count of sexual battery and a felony count of sexual abuse of a minor in the fourth degree and was sentenced to a year in jail with six months suspended.

Hale allegedly engaged in "sexual intrusion" with the youth in January and allegedly engaged in sexual contact with the teenager during February, according to court documents.

Prosecutors noted the victim was at least four years younger than the defendant and that Hale occupied a position of authority in relation to the victim.

Melissa Stephens, Oregon

Melissa Stephens, 55-year-old director for a children?s arts and academics program in Tualatin, Oregon, has been arrested for the rape of a 10-year-old boy. She is suspected of engaging in sex acts with the boy for a period of more than a year, beginning about five years ago.

Stephens was arrested on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and first-degree sex abuse.

Stephens is founder and director of Willow Cottage Arts and Academics Program, a private arts program offering alternative education opportunities for children. It caters to students from kindergarten to the eighth grade. The private school also conducts a summer arts program at Brown's Ferry Park in Tualatin. According to the school web site, the summer program has been in existence since 1987.

Investigators did not say how Stephens knew the boy, whether he was a student at the school or if they believe there may be other victims.

Susan Alderson, Oregon

Susan C. Alderson, 46-year-old Silver Falls School District teacher is accused of sexually abusing a boy for four years, starting when the alleged victim was 13-years-old. Alderson was was arraigned in Marion County Circuit Court last week on two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sodomy, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts second-degree sexual abuse.

The alleged sexual abuse was reprted to Salem Police on May 28 by the victim, who is now 21-year-old.

The alleged sex acts included inappropriate touching and frequent sexual intercourse. The acts occurred between June 2000 and June 2004, according to court documents.

The victim said Alderson used back rubs as foreplay to initiate sex, which took place three to four times per week, according to the legal document. Anderson also wanted watch pornographic movies and images and also wanted to use sex toys during the sex acts.

Once she also brought the victim to the Silverton school where she teaches and the two had sex in a craft room.

The statement also said Alderson asked the victim to drop the charges, asking to "reconcile" the situation. Department of Human Services workers removed another boy from Alderson's home because of the investigation

Heidi Mullinix, Brown County, Ohio

Heidi Mullinix, a Brown County special education teacher and girls? junior varsety basketball coach, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual battery, after admitting she had sex with a male student. The sex reportedly occurred between February and March of 2004.

The 17 year-old victim, while a student at the high school was not one of Mullinnix's students, and none of the encounters happened on school property.

The case was headed to a Brown County Grand Jury today, but instead, Mullinnix pleaded guilty to what's called a bill of particulars, where she agrees the facts in the case are true.

Mullinix was sentenced to one year in prison in the beginning of July 2009. She appeared before Common Pleas Judge Scott Gusweiler and agreed to bypass the indictment system by filing a bill of information. As a part of the plea deal, Brown County Prosecutor Jessica Little recommended that Mullinix be sentenced to five years of community control instead of the maximum sentence of five years in prison.

At the sentencing on July 1, Gusweiler sentenced Mullinix to one year in prison, as well as five years of community control. Additionally, Mullinix must register as a tier three sex offender for the rest of her life.

Tricia Mallernee, Indiana

Tricia D. Mallernee was arrested in May 2009 and charged with four felony counts of child seduction for allegedly having sex with a teen foreign exchange student more than 50 times from August 2008 through April 2009.

In July 2009 Judge Fredrick Spencer gave Mallernee a three-year suspended sentence on each of four counts of child solicitation. The judge gave Mallernee a one-year suspended sentence for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a misdemeanor.

All of the sentences will be served at the same and she must register as a sex offender. Mallernee, 32, now of La Fontaine in Wabash County, had pleaded guilty in Madison Circuit Court to four counts of child seduction, all Class D felonies carrying a standard four-year prison terms.

Under the terms of a plea agreement, Mallernee will be on probation for three years.

Elizabeth Livesay was sentenced in Maricopa County Superior Court in July 2009 to four months in a Maricopa County jail and 14 years of supervised probation in connection to sexual-related offenses with a 16-year-old girl she met through church. She also has to register as sex offender.

Police learned of the crime in late October 2008 by a counselor. No information has been released where the numerous sexual acts took place or the exact nature of the conduct, bu the incidents did not happen on school grounds.

Livesay was placed on administrative leave by the Mesa Public School system pending the outcome of an investigation.

Ellen Marie Hunt, 46-year-old teacher formerly at Samuell High School, has been arrested for allegedly engaging in an improper relationship with a student. She faces a felony charge of having an improper relationship with a student.

She and the student, a 17-year-old who just finished the 11th grade at the school, were found having sex in the student's car after police received a complaint on June 8.

The student told investigators that he and Hunt exchanged phone numbers during a 2008 Christmas party for the class. Two weeks later they met on another Saturday evening at a movie theater

Student and Ellen Hunt performed sex acts on each othet and had sex twice at Motel 6's, once in March and again in April. Investigators verified that Hunt rented rooms at an Addison Motel 6 on March 7 and at a Garland Motel 6 on April 18, police say.

Police obtained a warrant for Hunt's arrest last week, and she was arrested on Saturday. She left jail yesterday on $10,000 bail. Under Texas law, it's a felony for a teacher at a primary or secondary school to have sex with a student at that school.

Melissa Andreini A former Helper Junior High School teacher charged with having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old male student paid her victim between $1,400 and $1,500 after the encounters, court documents allege.

New details about the relationship between Melissa Ann Andreini and her alleged victim emerged from a probable cause statement recently filed in 7th District Court.

According to the statement, the victim's mother confronted Andreini at Andreini's home in Helper on July 3 after finding out the teacher was supposedly having sex with her son. Andreini admitted to the boy's mother that she had sex with the teenager on several occasions at her home, according to the statement.

A Utah Division of Child and Family Services worker along with police interviewed the boy about his relationship with Andreini, which he said started during the 2008-09 school year, according to the statement.

The boy told police Andreini used to bring him and his friends coffee two to three times a week before school started. The boys went to Andreini's classroom to get the drinks, according to the statement. The victim reported to police that Andreini paid him money after three separate sexual episodes at her home in June.

Court documents do not specify if the money exchanged was for sex or to keep the boy quiet about the encounters. The victim's mother told police Andreini admitted to paying the boy between $1,400 and $1,500 when the mother confronted

Andreini on July 3, according to the statement.

Andreini, 28, was charged Monday in 7th Distirct Court with three counts of third-degree felony unlawful sexual activity with a minor. Her first court appearance is scheduled for Sept.28 before Judge Douglas Thomas in Price. If convicted, Andreini faces up to five years in prison on each count.

Last week, Helper police announced Andreini was under investigation for sexual activity with a boy who recently completed ninth grade at Helper Junior High School.

Another teacher at Helper Junior High School is also accused of sexual misconduct with a student in a case unrelated to Andreini's, police said. Charges against that teacher are still being screened, said Carbon County Attorney Gene Strate. He said it's possible the other teacher will not be charged.

Robert Cox, special programs director for the Carbon County School District, told The Salt Lake Tribune earlier this week that Andreini was hired as a special education teacher in the fall of 2006.

The school district received word of the allegations against Andreini and the other teacher in late July from Helper police and Carbon County sheriff's deputies, Cox said.

Cox said Andreini submitted a letter of resignation to the district on Aug. 3. The other teacher has been placed on administrative leave.

Cox said the district is using the case as an opportunity to reinforce the district's rules about professional practices. He said Andreini's alleged victim was a student at the school, but not one of her special education students.

"We take very seriously the safety of our students," Cox said. "We want our students to feel safe and feel comfortable in school. We regret that this would happen in our district or in any other district."

Andreini was booked into the Carbon County jail earlier this week, but was released after posting $10,000 bail. She did not return a phone call from The Tribune seeking comment Friday afternoon.

A public school teacher who had a lesbian affair with her teenage pupil wept today as she was jailed today for 15 months.

Helen Goddard, 26, met the 15-year-old through her work at a top girls' school and even took her on a romantic weekend to Paris.

When she was arrested after an anonymous tip-off, police found sex toys and 'fluffy hand cuffs' at her house.

Judge Anthony Pitts said the pair had a 'full-on sexual relationship' for many months despite Goddard knowing it was wrong and a huge risk to her career.

Goddard, who admitted six charges of sexual activity with a child last month, wiped away tears as she was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court.

'You clearly knew it was wrong to a start a sexual relationship with her and you knew the dangers to your career as a teacher,' the judge said.

Wearing a white blouse, black waistcoat and trousers, the music teacher known as the Jazz Lady by her pupils bowed her head as she was sent down.

On top of the jail sentence, Goddard was banned from working with children for life and ordered to stay on the sex offenders' register for 10 years.

But a sexual offences prevention order banning her from seeing her lover for five years was not passed, meaning she will be able to see her as soon as she is released.

The order would have been 'draconian and unnecessarily cruel' to the teenager, the judge ruled.

The 15-year-old, who insists the relationship was consensual and their sex life was instigated by her, has vowed to continue the relationship when she turns 16.

A trumpet player, Goddard is a one-time child prodigy who performed at the opening of the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000.

The judge said she was 'clearly an intelligent woman and a talented musician'.

She met the teenager through her work at a ?13,0000-a-year girls' school, which cannot be named for legal reasons.

They started going for coffee after lessons and then began a fully-fledged fling. Trysts included an overnight stay at the teacher's home and a weekend in Paris.

The school were oblivious until an anonymous tip-off from a parent. Police and social services went to the pupil's home but were told she was staying with Goddard.

Goddard was later arrested and a number of sex toys were found at her home in Greenwich, south east London.

On her mobile phone, which was seized, police found 157 texts from the girl to her teacher and 60 replied.

Many were of an 'intimate and affectionate nature, some explicitly sexual,' the court heard.

One from the teacher read: 'It's gonna be a beautiful day. I love you, you were on my mind all night.'

Regina Naughton, prosecuting, said the teenager initially denied everything but 24 hours later confessed to her mother.

'She said she, the girl, had instigated the relationship and felt guilty for the situation she had put Ms Goddard in, and that she wished to continue the relationship. She also told her mother she was devastated that Ms Goddard would go to prison, and that she would not commit suicide as she wished to say goodbye to her,' the court heard.

The pair had feelings for each other but their relationship was 'not planned or expected', Ms Naughton said.

'This developed into them flirting with each other and sending text messages to each other. They went for a walk one day and she describes kissing Ms Goddard on the lips, which Ms Goddard responded to.'

The teenager lied to her parents so that she could stay at her teacher's house, where they shared a bed and kissed. More overnight stays followed.

They also had 'sexual relations' at the girl's home, the barrister said.

In June, they had said they loved each other and the teenager told her parents she was going to France to see a relative so that they could fly to Paris together.

They went to the Gay Pride March that weekend during their visit.

Goddard had spoken about quitting her job so that they could stay together, the girl had told police. She said she told Goddard to lie initially when they were discovered.

She admitted later that 'both of them knew what they were doing was legally wrong, but that it felt right'.

The judge said it was a 'difficult' case because the girl had clearly stated she agreed to all sexual contact and had even instigated it.

But he stressed that it was still illegal to have sex with anyone under 16, regardless of consent, and that it was a serious offence.

It was even worse that Goddard had been her music teacher throughout their fling and 'from well before the sexual relationship started', he said.

This means their relationship would still be illegal until after the girl turned 18, the judge told the court.

Goddard had been a 'big hit' with her pupils who flocked to her room at break times and colleagues had warned her about being 'over-friendly and too popular'.

The school had felt 'betrayed' by the fling, particularly by the 'deception of the Paris weekend', Judge Pitts said.

In a victim impact statement, the girl's parents claimed Goddard had gone 'out of her way' to befriend their 'vulnerable' daughter.

'Under the guise of helping her we now understand that for over five months she was betraying our trust and our daughter's,' they said.

They said they did not believe Goddard fully understood the 'seriousness of breaking the boundary and completely breaching the trust of a teacher-pupil relationship'.

But Anthony Heaton-Armstrong, defending, insisted she was 'very remorseful' and was 'not in any sense a 'sexual predator'.

Sexual activity with a child under 13 is always deemed to be assault as those so young are held to be incapable of giving consent.

Those over 13 are capable of consenting, but sexual activity with them remains illegal, particularly for their teachers.

Goddard played the trumpet from an early age and was a member of Hampshire County Youth Band as a teenager.

She was one of only five young English musicians invited to play at the Sydney Olympics ceremony and raised the money for her air fare herself.

A Burbank Unified School District teacher turned herself in Monday for having sex with a 14-year-old student from March to September last year, police said.

Amy Beck, 33, a sixth-grade teacher at Jordan Middle School, surrendered Monday afternoon to Burbank police with her lawyer, and was being held on $400,000 bail, Burbank Police Sgt. Robert Quesada said.

?We?re still trying to piece everything together, what happened, where, what kind of sex acts, how many, and how long it?s been going on,? he said. ?She walked in with her attorney . . . and said, ?Hey, I came to surrender for what I did.??

Beck, a Burbank resident, was scheduled to be arraigned today in Burbank Superior Court. Prosecutors charged Beck with four counts of unlawful sex with a person under 16 and one count of oral copulation with a person under 16. Prosecutors will request that bail be set at $175,000, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County district attorney?s office.

Beck faces up to seven years in state prison if convicted.

The minor involved was 14 at the time, and is now 15, police said. It is unclear whether the student is enrolled in Burbank Unified, but he is no longer at Jordan Middle School, school officials said.

?We?re trying to do some investigating and follow up and make sure there are no other students [involved],? Quesada said. ?It was a surprise, and we?re trying to get all the facts in the case.?

Beck?s attorney, Michael Williamson, said he expected her to plead not guilty.

?The simple fact is, until I know exactly what sort of exposure she might have . . . it would be foolish for me to have my client plead guilty,? he said. ?The not-guilty plea is her statutory right. I can see the evidence and will have a chance to discuss the case with the district attorney, and that can?t happen until she?s charged.?

Beck had been teaching at Jordan for about 10 years, Principal Sharon Cuseo said.

?She?s a well respected and loved teacher,? she said. ?We?re all shocked.?

Beck submitted her resignation Friday in a two- or three-sentence letter, Cuseo said.

?There was no explanation in her resignation letter. It was just that she was resigning immediately,? Cuseo said.

Beck taught English and social science. Administrators have a substitute in place to finish the school year.

District officials would not comment regarding potential legal liability, adding that such questions were speculative.

?We had no information until the Burbank Police Department contacted us,? said Gabe Soumakian, assistant superintendent for human resources. ?We didn?t know why she resigned. It didn?t make sense, but we didn?t have any information to go along with it.?

Parents were unaware of the allegations Tuesday when they picked up their children in front of the school.

?It?s getting younger and younger,? said Dan Wright, a father of a sixth- and seventh-graders. ?I can?t imagine how I?d react if my son or daughter was in that position with someone of authority ? not to mention the impact on other students, because they?ll find out.?

Manuela Cansino said she worried about the effect on her grandson and his classmates.

?They?re going to be surprised,? she said. ?They?ll be asking questions. It?s unbelievable.?
