Best James Bond

So me and a couple of my friends were watching Octopussy and we got into a debate about who the best James Bond character is. I am a big Roger Moore fan, but some chose Sean Connery and between the females it was either Pierce Brosnan or Daniel Craig. So my fellow DSF'ers who do you think is the best bond?!

Based on Casino Royale I'm saying Daniel Craig. He seems more believable in the role. He has the right build, no way would Bond be as small as Moore or Brosnan.

I vote for Sean Connery only because of the amount of good films he did. If Daniel Craig continues what he started in Casino Royal, he will win my vote in the future.

Sean Connery set the bar. He's the epitomical James Bond...suave, smooth, and just the right wit. For the period in which he played the character, he was great. But for modern day, my vote for Daniel Craig. I was blown away by him in Casino Royale. The smoothness of Connery, but bad ass enough for modern times...exactly what you'd think a "00" agent would be like.

Roger Moore was a disgrace, turning great novels into one big joke.

Dalton was alright.

Pierce Brosnan had an awesome sense of humor, carried himself well and was charismatic to boot. Trouble was, Goldeneye was the only half-decent script they gave him. Tomorrow Never Dies sucked (come on, TERI HATCHER as the Bondgirl and an evil NEWSPAPER MOGUL?!), so did The World Is Not Enough (good acting, plot sucked) and Die Another Day (Bond and HALLE BERRY vs. an evil North Korean general-turned-British environmentalist through Cuban plastic surgery? WHAT THE FUCK???). If given, say, the script of Goldfinger/Casino Royale/Dr. No, etc, he would have been the best ever.

Daniel Craig brings back the solemn dark side of Bond, the assassin. The acting was amazing, the script was fucking AWE INSPIRING, and the dialouge make me jizz in my pants, that's how cool it was. No goofy-ass gadgets, no stupid villains, no dodging some 10,000 bullets per hour per movie without being hit... that movie was just amazing. Pierce gets a close second, but so far Craig takes it for me. Lets just hope Quantum Of Solace (11/17/08, motherfuckers) lives up to my expectations... I'm sure it will.

I got to go Connery, but it's not going to take too many more movies for Craig to really BE Bond if is able to keep having scripts and direction like he did in Casino Royale. Not going to lie, I actually liked the Dalton movies too. License to Kill is probably in my top four Bonds.

Das: I love Statham but I don't think he would've been the right pick. I honestly think he's a little too gritty and probably not "refined" enough for a Bond role but I think he'd be AWESOME as a Bond villian, yeah?

Statham would make an AWESOME villain... he could even play Ernst Stavro Blofeld in his younger days... but he wouldn't have been suave enough to play Bond. Jude Law, Clive Owen, Ewan McGregor and Hugh Jackman were considered alongside Craig and Statham for the role, supposedly. Out of the six, I'd say Statham would have been the third best, behind Craig and Owen.

Connery is a god amongst men....and yes, he's the best Bond ever. From Dr. No - Thunderball...all were CLASSIC and pure Bond at his best.

Film wise Casino Royal and Craig edge out Brosnan, just for having great scripts that made sense. Poor Brosnan got shitty, boring plots, and god awful villians.

I agree also that Statham would make a good Blofeld, if they were to bring him back. That could give some great fight scenes between Craig and Statham.

I have mixed feelings about Casino Royale. It was a good movie, it just didn't fit "Bond". The whole time I was watching it, I felt like I was watching another XXX.

I voted for Connery. He is the original Bond and is the benchmark for the wit and class that Bond should have. He was like having both Hugh Hefner and Earl Flynn all in one package. Chicks loved him and dudes wanted to be him.

I think he would have been a horrible choice. Statham acting sophisticated doesn't quite work and he's already established too many rolls in other action movies.

I don't see any real similarities to Casino Royale and XXX. XXX based the entire movie off of all the X-Game sports and the simulated lifestyle that comes with it...its like watching one long Mountain Dew commercial. The only similarity to that I could think of off the top of my head in Casino Royale is the parkour chase scene with the first bomber. Outside of that, you didn't have the fashion, slang, product placement or even cheesy feel you get from movies like XXX which rely on whats cool to todays youth to sell instead of having a believable story line with first rate acting.

Sean Connery did a tremendous job, he was charming, cunning, intelligent and fearless.

Daniel Craig definitely outshines all the rest of them. First actor since Connery to make me feel like I was watching James Bond.
