I wouldn't go that far... That British chick in season 2 nearly made me stop watching. Good thing they redeemed themselves in the last two episodes.

I downloaded and watched both seasons all at once. I have the books, but haven't had the chance to read them yet. I may actually sign up for Showtime before the season starts

The books are better, IMO. The first book was the authors first ever I believe, and you can tell. Some of the things they changed from the first book are for the better; for example, most characters (such as Angel Batista and Vincent Masuka) had very small roles in the book because it mostly focused on Dexter and the Ice Truck Killer.

The second book is COMPLETELY different from the show. And by completely, I mean it's a whole different plot.

ive watched all of dexter, but i finally realized at the end of season 2(when it got wayyyyy crazy) that the show was really hard to believe, esp with his brother in season 1 and all that shit about being taught to kill and the flashbacks, dont get me started on how bad of an actress the woman who plays his sister is.....i got over dexter.

however, weeds is my fav showtime show(in a weird place right now, however), and im looking forward to californication, mainly because it doesnt try too hard and is easy to watch b/c duchovny is a pretty good actor.

I know where you are coming from about Debra's acting. I hope they kill her off. She annoys the fuck out of me still; and I'm tired of everyone on the show acting she's hot. She's fucking aneroixic, she's not hot. And you're also right about believability; but it's close enough for me to get by. That's why this is not "the best show on TV" as many people claim.
I'm not sure what annoyed me the most about season two. Debra's insecurities, the pyscho British chick, or all of Dexter's soul searching.

I like Californication because he's funny and because they like to show lots of hot naked women.

Most, if not all shows have limited believability. This show is awesome, can't wait for the 3rd season.

That's exactly how I feel about Dexter. I love the show even though it's ridiculous. Every show on TV today is ridiculous. The show just finds some way to get me wrapped up enough that i can't miss it.

Dexter and Debra married in real life, so I dont think she is going anywhere.

Maybe it was because of the nudity, but I didnt mind the British chick much. I like the story lines where Dexter tries to live "normal" and have killing confidants like her and Miguel and then eventually realizes his dad was right and he has to stick by the "rules".

To me, this is easily the best show on TV. Its like a 12 hour movie with a beginning, middle, climax, and conclusion. It somehow always keeps my girl and I (and all of our friends that we burn copies for) dying to watch the next episode.
