I got this email about the Christian Rocker who’s kid got run over by his other kid, I felt it was worth addressing for the people who misunderstood what I was saying:

i have no idea if you’ll ever read this, and even though i expect it to be one of the hundrends or thousands of mail that are deleated en mass (cuz u probb cant read em all) i still consider me writing this quite important , atleast from my part.
my letter to you is about the post you made on Steven Curtis Chapmans daughter firstly, i was quite surprised youd even mention him on your site… and link to his. but essential it really quite offended me and probbly him(chapman) if he will read it… now, i never considered you to be the church going, never swearing, believer type infact i was quite sure(which inturn turned out right) that you didnt care about religion….. or anything associated with it … like ummm… christian rock , but the way you worded you post turned out to be very disrespectful… i dont know if you understand how it feels to loose someone very close..(i dont) but im sure it hurts like a bitch, he lost his daughter..cut him some slack … you can say all you want about lindsay lohan and her crazy life……. well, until she dies. i hope you show a little more respect next time, sir.dude.
ps : i really dont care if you shoot back a sterotypicall coolass witty comment at me(if u ever read this and bother to) and post it on drunkenstepfather but i really hope you get the point.

This was my response, it’s boring and I wrote it last night while drunk, so if you want laughs, this isn’t where you’ll find them…

The point of my comment wasn’t against your homeboy Curtis Chapman, it was against the fundamentalists who are brainwashed to believe that religion will offer them salvation. The reality is that someone like Chapman or other preacher types get very rich preying on people’s insecurities and that is what I find evil, the fact they do it in the name of the Lord pretending to be God’s representatives makes it that more evil.
When you see him linking his charity something that has “operational expenses” that usually line the pockets of the people who run the charities, all within 12 hours of the death of his little girl, one has to question his intentions. It’s one of those seize the opportunity, milk it for all it’s worth situation and that is what my commentary was on. If my baby died, the last thing I would do is update my website and ask for money for my cause that I make 20% of revenue on.
All that to say is that my heart goes out to the girl, it’s a tragedy and I am sure it is a tragedy or the family as well, but I don’t believe what he did to handle the situation was tactful, classy or really representative of someone suffering.
To each their own, some people need Jesus to keep them on track, I don’t hate on or shit on people for having faith, but I do shit on people profiting on people’s faith because it in manipulative and disgusts me. I hope you understand the context in which I was writing and wish you the best of days to come in your journey with Jesus at your back.

Not really on topic but…
So, this ‘dude’ is saying you can only make fun of living people? Then after they die that somehow makes a person any better than what they were in life? If a person was an asshole, I’m still going to say they were an asshole when they die because that’s who they were. People die, and some of them are assholes, death doesn’t make them any better.
