well ya see big-man58, studies have shown that the after effects of slavery very much impact this generation. its sorta like a chain effect. if you start off without a very good education and in a bad neighborhood you will be farther behind others in your same grade and colleges will not want you (colleges actually do look at where your school is located and how much your family makes as a factor into admittance). you then will have a lower paying job which in turn results in things such as lower quality health care, lower credit, and a home in a not so desirable neighborhood. When you have kids the cycle begins all over again with them being put through school receiving a sub par education. Now of course some people break the mold but it is hard to do.
It would be nice for all blacks to “move on” but it is also not fair to say “slavery ended 100 years ago get over it” because it is still very relevant
